INTERPOL and Group-IB extend strategic partnership to combat cybercrime worldwide

Group-IB, a prominent player in cybersecurity technologies, and the International Criminal Police Organisation (INTERPOL) have reaffirmed their commitment to combating digital crime globally through the extension of their strategic partnership. The formalisation of this agreement took place at the INTERPOL Global Complex for Innovation in Singapore, witnessed by Dmitry Volkov, CEO of Group-IB, and Stephen Kavanagh, INTERPOL’s Executive Director of Police Services.

The signing ceremony marks a pivotal moment in the ongoing battle against cybercrime, following a series of successful joint operations in 2023. Both organisations are dedicated to mitigating the global impact of cyber threats through collaborative efforts.

The collaborative framework between INTERPOL and Group-IB revolves around three key areas: investigative support, training initiatives, and cyber threat intelligence sharing. With a presence in 195 member countries, INTERPOL has established an extensive network of national cyber police forces and private industry partners, facilitating rapid intelligence exchange and coordinated responses to cyber incidents worldwide.

This partnership enables INTERPOL to amalgamate critical intelligence and state-of-the-art technologies, merging the expertise of law enforcement with the agility of private sector responders like Group-IB. As an intergovernmental organisation, INTERPOL possesses the authority to facilitate cross-border investigations and prosecutions, positioning it as a pivotal force against transnational digital crime.

Group-IB’s Cyber Investigation team has played a crucial role in numerous successful operations, providing on-the-ground investigative support and intelligence gathering. Together with INTERPOL, they have identified and apprehended multiple cyber threat actors responsible for significant financial losses.

In 2023, Group-IB collaborated with INTERPOL in several operations targeting cybercriminals. Notably, their involvement in operations targeting phishing platforms and cybercriminal syndicates led to the arrests of suspects and the disruption of criminal activities amounting to millions of dollars.

Craig Jones, INTERPOL’s Director of Cybercrime, emphasised the synergistic approach fostered by the partnership, stating, “Our partnership with Group-IB reinforces our collective capacity to fight cybercrime. By harnessing our expertise and resources, we create an efficient alliance against ever-evolving cyber threats, enhancing our ability to safeguard communities.”

Dmitry Volkov, CEO of Group-IB, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to deepen cooperation with INTERPOL, stating, “This partnership signifies another step forward in our shared mission of fighting against cybercrime worldwide. With the full power of Group-IB’s Digital Crime Resistance Network and our technologies, we will continue supporting INTERPOL in its efforts against cybercrime.”

The extended partnership between INTERPOL and Group-IB underscores the importance of collaboration between law enforcement agencies and private sector entities in addressing the complex challenges posed by cyber threats.
